How Cooking Taught Me Patience and Precision
Cooking has always more than just a hobby for me- it's a journey of learning , experimenting and discovering myself. Among the very lessons it has thought me, two quality stand out the most: Patience and Precision.
When I first started cooking, I was eager to see a quick result. I would rush through recipes, skip steps, and expect perfect outcomes. Unsurprising, most dishes turned out undercooked, over spiced or simply in editable. That's when I realised cooking is not just about mixing incredient- it's about timing, measuring and observing.
I still remember the first time I tried to make puran poli, a traditional Maharashtrian dish. I was excited but completely underestimated the process. I rushed through making the dough and ended up tearing most of the polis while rolling. My mother smiled and said, “Puran poli doesn't like to be rushed.” That stuck with me.
Precision came next. A pinch too much salt or a slightly higher flame could ruin hours of effort. Following recipes with care made me value accuracy and attention to detail. It reminded me of debugging code—every step matters.
In the end, I’ve realized the kitchen is not just a place for food—it's a place where patience and precision come to life.
Cooking taught me patience💖because apparently, staring at the oven doesn’t make things bake faster😂😉
